Thanks to Jess Hodge from BioRegional development who presented the OPL concept at the Wandle Fourm meeting in December at BedZED. It was an inspiring talk and something for us all to aim for.

The Landscape and Open Spaces sub-group of the Wandle Forum has had it's second meeting and is going from strength to strength! They are proposing short and long-term projects to benefit the landscape and biodiversity of the Wandle Valley and many will form part of the EA's River Restoration Plan for the Wandle. They will also form part of the implementation plan for the Wandle Valley Regional Park. Funding for the improvements is also being sought.

A Local Development Framework is a folder of local development documents that outlines how planning will be managed in your area. In each of the 4 Wandle boroughs they are a different stages of completing their LDF's. There is still a chance to comment and influence issues such as the development of the Wandle Valley Regional Park, ensuring that it gets sufficient support in the LDF. The document attached gives you dates of consultations and borough contact details.

Following the recent devastating fish kill officers from the Environment Agency’s fisheries and ecology team will take be electrofishing on River Wandle tomorrow at 11am, to investigate the effects of a recent pollution incident.
The spillage has killed at least 2,000 fish along a 5km stretch of the River Wandle.
